Scrapbooking supplies

This list provides the basic supplies you will need to get started with your scrapbook.

Also included are some items that you may add in to your collection to make your pages more unique.

Paper and photos

There are many kinds of paper and cardstock to choose from. If you are just starting out, it may be useful to buy a pre-made kit that includes everything you need to create your pages and takes the guesswork out of matching your colors and embellishments. There are also many types of pattern and theme paper that will match your photos.

Albums

Albums come in different sizes and many are themed to your project, such as a wedding album or a baby scrapbook. The standard size is 12 X12, but you can choose any size that you wish depending on the size of your project. If you can, you should choose an album that matches the size your paper to eliminate the need for extra trimming. Page protectors are photo safe plastic covers that you slip over the completed pages. Some albums come with these, while others don't.

cutting Tools

The most important cutting tool is a good pair of scissors that are sharp and easy to use. You should dedicate at least pair exclusively to your projects so they are always there and you don't have to hunt for them. If your budget allows, you may want to purchase a paper trimmer and additional decorative scissors that cut out a pattern.

Journal pens

If you plan on handwriting your titles and captions, photo safe pens are specially created for scrapbooking projects. Look for pens that are acid-free and permanent. There are many different colors and sizes to choose from. Double sided pens are useful because they come with a fine tip on one end and a medium to large tip on the other.

Adhesives

Choose an acid free adhesive that works well with your cardstock and photos. Products include glue sticks, decorative tape, mounting squares, and photo corners. It is best to try out several products to determine which works best with your needs. A glue stick is usually the most basic and inexpensive to start out with.

Embellishments

Embellishments are not a necessity, but they are nice to have if you want to add a few extra touches to your pages. Items include stickers, pre-made cut outs, ribbons, buttons, eyelets, tags, and decorative paper and cardstock.
